“Relics of the Gree” is a recurring event that takes place in the Western Ice Shelf on Ilum. The old battlefield between the Republic and the Empire has been transformed into a crucible for Gree research, and all players at level 50+ are invited to participate!
The Story

An ancient Gree starship has appeared and landed on the frozen planet of Ilum. A full automated vessel launched by the Gree’s ancestors long ago was sent to explore and study the furthest reaches of the galaxy and has been jumping from one system to the other for centuries, examining planets and analyzing native species and their response to various stimuli, from mild atmospheric alterations to direct attacks.
The modern Gree call their ship “Gray Secant,” which carries almost a religious significance. The Gree look back on their ancestors with a reverence, having forgotten the intentions of their ancient predecessors. With the reappearance of the starship, the Gree want to help the Gray Secant further its purpose. Since the starship has taken an interest in the battles between the factions on Ilum, the Gree have reached out to both factions, offering rewards for those willing to travel to the battlefields on Ilum, providing them with data for the Gray Secant’s mission of analysis.
Changes of Ilum

The Gray Secant’s arrival has transformed the Western Ice Shelf on Ilum. Gree architecture now grows from the ice, and enemies are everywhere. Both the Empire base and the Republic base are either destroyed or abandoned. Both factions have set up research camps and staging areas for the fighting in the contested area in the south.
With the arrival of the Gray Secant, the terms of battle on Ilum have changed. The area has become a PvP region, with four player groups competing over daily objectives. Operations groups not allowed in the Southern Bowl, but the Northern Bowl hosts large scale conflicts between the Empire and the Republic.
Getting Ready for the Event
At the research camp, there are many repeatable missions. Any missions requiring entrance to the Southern Bowl are PvP. Killing other players isn’t required, but to get your objectives, you will be against other groups in the region competing for the limited resources. But if you decide to venture there, the Secant’s Droids are weaker in the Southern Bowl, making the Heroic missions easier to complete should you risk entering the contested area. Proceed with caution, enemies are everywhere.
The area of the Gree event will apply a bolster effect similar to Warzones to all players, but not Companions. Players should be at least level 50 to join and complete missions. If you plan to participate in the PvP aspect of it, it would be a good idea to be much higher in level.
Mission Key for this Guide:
Republic Missions
Empire Missions
News terminals to begin the event are on the outer ring of the Fleet. To begin the event, interact with one of these terminals. After you interact with it, you will have a short cutscene and be given the following missions: Gree Research Initiative – Speak to Ro-tuK, the Gree Herald Droid.
He can be located at the Republic Recon Post on the Western Shelf of Ilum.
The Gree Experiment – Speak to Ro-tuK, the Gree Herald Droid.
He can be located at the Imperial Firebase 3 on the Western Shelf of Ilum.
Daily Missions
All the events listed here can be done daily throughout the event.
[DAILY] Experimental Bounds
[DAILY] Confirmation Bias
Despite Gree assurances, the Strategic Information Service remains suspicious of Gray Secant’s true purpose on Ilum. All forces are asked to help determine whether the Gree have any ulterior motives for analyzing the Republic’s combat capabilities. This can be best accomplished by tapping into the data being gathered by Gray Secant’s probe relays.
Accessing the Gree probe relays requires the proper communications protocols, which can only be obtained from the Gree droids in the area. Recover a copy of the Gree comm protocols to facilitate your espionage.
Tasks:
- Obtain Gree Comm Protocol
- Slice Probe Relay
- Defeat Relay Defenses
- Download Gree Communications
- Turn in Data at Mission Dropbox

The Gree request your aid in facilitating Gray Secant’s research. The ancient ship has deployed research pylons throughout the Western Shelf of Ilum. Activating these pylons will initiate combat assessment programs and record your activities.
Complete Gray Secant’s combat assessment program at a research pylon. A full sequence of the program will require multiple activations of the pylon to gather a complete spectrum of data.
Additionally, Gray Secant has prepared each pylon with additional defenders independent of the program’s activation. Combat with these droids is nonetheless considered a vital part of the research.
Tasks:
- Defeat Pylon Guardians: 0/3
- Complete the Program at a Gree Research Pylon: 0/6
- Return to Mission Dropbox.

Codex Entries
- Fray Landing Memorial – On the very south end of the Western Ice Shelf, where the Republic Base used to be. To get to this memorial, look for a tunnel on the south end of the contested area.
- Gray Secant – When doing the [DAILY] Advanced Testing / Advanced Analysis, you are where this object is, at the north end of the Gray Secant near the Core Testing unit droids.
- Gravak’k & Surgok’k – These are codex entries you will see when you defeat these two world bosses.
- Tonvarr Pirates – Near the “External Variables” daily, you will find a Tonvarr Datastore that will give you this.
- Xenoanalyst II – There are two entries for this one, story and hard mode.
![]() | Fray Landing Memorial In the early days of the Empire’s invasion of the planet Ilum, Republic forces at the Fray Landing Base fought desperately to hold their position against an overwhelming tide of Imperial attackers. Though they were eventually overrun and killed, these brave heroes of the Republic have not been forgotten by their comrades, who have since placed a humble memorial to commemorate the many lives lost at the site. “Remember Fray!” became a rallying cry among Republic troops and the public alike, allowing the then-newly elected Supreme Chancellor Saresh to press for the largest increase in military spending since the Treaty of Coruscant. |
![]() | Gray Secant The mysterious Gree starship known as Gray Secant carries a long and unclear history. According to the Gree, this fully-automated vessel was launched by their ancestors at some point in the distant past, though conventional sensor technology has been unable to determine the ship’s precise age or even its composition. As a result, there is no way to know the ancient starship’s capabilities for certain, though most experts believe its technological sophistication to be well beyond contemporary Republic and Imperial science. Among the Gree themselves, Gray Secant carries an almost religious significance. The ship was sent out from the Gree Enclave to explore and analyze the rest of the galaxy over the course of many millennia; getting to see one of their ancient legends at work firsthand is understandably exciting for the Gree. |
![]() | Tonvarr Pirates Composed of survivors and outcasts from dozens of defunct pirate groups from around the galaxy, the Tonvarr have banded together under a simple Weequay battle principle: “Enter with the best weapons, leave with the best spoils.” Tonvarr raiding parties have struck weapon manufacturing centers, xenotechnology research labs, and even ancient dig sites, gathering the most impressive arsenal of advanced and exotic weapons technologies in the entire galactic underworld. The group’s intelligence gathering abilities are also far beyond the level of other pirate organizations; no one is entirely sure how the Tonvarr have the expertise to locate and make use of such a wide variety of complex technologies. It’s possible that their broad knowledge is a side effect of the group’s diverse membership: raiders from many different species have been spotted among the Tonvarr ranks. |
